The Government is keen to modernise local government, Best Value is a key part of this modernisation programme. Since 1999/2000 we have been conducting "Service Improvement Reviews” to ensure service provision is in line with what local people, service users and partners want. These reviews take a long hard look at the services we provide and are based upon the 4C's of Best Value.
For those of you with an interest in this subject we have more detailed information available below:
Each year we publish a Best Value Performance Plan. This is an annual report which provides information on what the Council aims to achieve, details our performance over the last year and how we intend to provide and improve our services over the next few years. This plan helps us to be more open - for example, the public can see from the BVPP how educational attainment in Northumberland compares with elsewhere or where we stand nationally in recycling household waste.
The BVPP also acts as our internal Corporate Business Plan - it sets out what we’re committed to delivering in the coming year. This is a lengthy document containing a range of information of corporate relevance.
