Business Opportunities

There are often offers of business or franchise opportunities that seem too good to be true. High returns, minimal effort or others do the work. How could a consumer resist – they can finally quit work and live their dreams.
Unfortunately, the high return for minimal effort is normally for the scam artist.
The consumer who is hoping to change their lives often ends up with nothing. If they do receive something, it is normally low returns for a lot of hard work.
The scam artists usually use high-pressure techniques to persuade the consumer to buy into their business opportunity.
Prevention
Don't believe that you can make riches with little or no effort. There are few avenues to riches without hard work, and running your own business is definitely hard work.
With any business opportunity, talk to current owners or franchisees. Do their experiences match what the company has promised?  Are the earning potentials realistic?
Never rush in to a business or franchise opportunity. Always seek advice from friends, family and professionals. Research both the company and the market in which they operate.
If you do enter into a business opportunity agreement, ensure everything is in writing. The contract should include all terms of the agreement. Have your solicitor look at the agreement.
