6. MONITORING

 

MONITORING

        The Guidance on Full Local Transport Plans, DETR, March 2000 stresses the importance of effective monitoring of LTP policies, so that it can be clearly demonstrated that the financial input is achieving the desired outputs.  This will be essential to the continued funding of local transport schemes.

          An annual monitoring exercise will be carried out in the form of an output report.  The results will be compared against the targets specified in the LTP, the indication being that those authorities which meet or exceed their targets will be the most successful in attracting the highest levels of funding in the future.

          Some of the main targets established in the LTP and performance against them will be audited annually through the County Council’s best value Local Performance Plan.

          It is intended that the Northumberland LTP will monitor, inter alia, the following:

The DETR publication Best Value and Audit Commission Performance Indicators for 2000/2001, December 1999, establishes the following indicators for Transport (in Chapter 10 Environmental Services).
